Frequently asked questions (FAQ's) about German courses
You can register online on www.ifa-akademie.de for our courses. German courses, seminars and trainings can be found in the course calendars of the respective pages. More information on the course or training can be found under “details”.
Or you can register in person in the office of ifa Akademie, Charlottenplatz 17, at U-Bahn stop Charlottenplatz, entrance B.
The opening hours are:
10 a.m. – 12 p.m. & 1 p.m. – 4 p.m.
1 p.m. – 4 p.m.
10 a.m. – 12 p.m.
1 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.
9 a.m. – 1 p.m.
After online registration you will get a confirmation/ invoice via Email within one to three working days for the course you chose.
Please call us, if this is not the case after three working days.
Our seminars and trainings are designed for adults. Minimum age for all German courses at ifa Akademie is 16 years.
ifa Akademie offers all levels in different course types:
Intensive courses offer fast learning progress. 5 lessons per day (either in the morning or afternoon) enable you to reach a level in a short period of time.
Weekend courses are ideal for professionals with no time to study during the week. The courses take place Friday evenings and Saturday mornings.
Evening courses start at 6 p.m., so that you can study after work. The groups meet on two evenings per week.
Holiday courses in the summer offer the opportunity to learn German intensively.

ifa Akademie does not offer courses funded by the BAMF (Bundesamt für Migration und Flüchtlinge). You can get information on these special courses at the Welcome Center (Charlottenplatz 17, www.welcome.stuttgart.de/), Volkshochschule Stuttgart (www.vhs-stuttgart.de) or the department of integration of the city of Stuttgart (https://www.stuttgart.de/item/show/305802/1/dept/159?).
The fees depend on the kind of course you register for. They are listed in the course calendar.
How can I pay my fees from my home country outside Germany or the EU?
If you live outside of Germany or the EU, you can pay your invoice either online or via bank transfer. You can find our bank data on the ifa Akademie invoice.
If you wish to pay online from outside Germany or the EU, please contact us via email once you have received your invoice. In this case we will send you a payment link. This link will guide you to a secure payment site. There you will be able to pay your invoice by credit card or in most countries via direct transfer.
How can I pay my fees inside Germany or the EU?
You can either pay cash, with EC card/Vpay of a European bank or make a SEPA transfer from your bank.
We also accept all common credit cards for payment directly at ifa Akademie. Please find the respective charges under Conditions and Terms on our website.If you wish to pay your invoice online, please send us an email. We will then provide you with a personalised payment link. This link will lead you to a secure payment site. There you will be able to do your payment by credit card or direct transfer. Please note that in some case additional bank charges may apply.
Our fees cover the costs for a course. For selected courses we ask you to purchase your books and learning materials which you will keep after the end of the course.
Booking an intensive course makes a placement test mandatory. You will be invited to a placement test upon registration. Tests are usually scheduled about one week before the course starts.
For all other courses, such as evening courses, weekend courses, supplementary courses or holiday courses we advise you to do a placement test. Please contact our office for further information.
If you are planning to register for a TestDaF preparation course, it is mandatory to pass a placement test. Please contact our office for further information.
If you should fail the placement test for an intensive course, you are bound to visit the course with the respective level. You will not be able to cancel the course entirely after the placement test took place.
We advise you to follow the results of the placement test, if you want to successfully study in an evening or weekend course.
Please let us know in advance if you need a confirmation from ifa Akademie for your visa application. As soon as your fees have been paid, we send you the document either via post or Email.
If you shouldn’t get a visa, you can cancel the course in the respective cancellation period. Conditions and Terms apply.
Change of booking, cancellations & terms and conditions

We offer four types of certificates (ifa, Goethe, telc, TestDaF). At the end of a full course level you may choose the examination which best suits your needs.
You will receive a confirmation of participation without grade in our evening and weekend courses. If you wish to receive a certificate with grades, you can register for telc examination at ifa. Further information on this matter are listed on ifa Akademie website.
ifa Akademie does not offer courses especially for clients of Jobcenter.
We advise you to register for the next course in advance, best during the running course already.
Students booking several courses at ifa Akademie will get a discount for the second course and all following. You will get more information upon registration. We do not offer discounts for apprentices or Au pairs.
ifa Akademie does not offer special courses for Au pairs.
ifa Akademie does not offer scholarships. You may check following websites for possible support in this matter.
There are usually between 12-18 participants per course.
Our courses are designed as class-room courses, which means, that you should be present during course times. An 80% attendance is necessary to receive a certificate by ifa Akademie. Courses take place in the ifa building, Charlottenplatz 17, Stuttgart.
